GOD Strong Book Club

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

Many of you know I’ve been leading the group study of GOD Strong at my church with a group of dear military wives and I’ve had several of my military wife friends on Facebook asking when I might do something online.

Sooo… if you have been reading GOD Strong or are planning to, please join me April 1 as we hold a virtual book club here at Wives of Faith and discuss together what it means to lean and depend on God’s strength and not our own.

Each Thursday beginning April 1st through April 29, I will post some thoughts and a few questions for us to discuss on the blog. THIS Thursday (March 25), I will post an Introduction to the book and you will be invited to comment and share if you’re participating.

Hope you’ll join me!

Bible study tonight

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Many of you have asked me in the last week or so about the Bible study we’re doing with FMWCN – Me, Myself and Lies. This is a study written by LifeWay Bible study author Jennifer Rothschild and a very timely and applicable study I believe for military wives.

We were just talking last night in our Survival Sister chat about the way our thoughts can control us, instead of the other way around, and Jennifer’s study hits on this topic exactly.

I know some of you may not understand exactly how to get to the study sessions we do through blogtalkradio so here are the links to the individual sessions we’ve done so far. These will stay up indefinitely so if you have a friend you’d like to do the study with or you finally have gotten the book and want to go through it, by all means, check out the radio sessions and go through the weekly chapters. I know the material you discover will bless you just as it’s blessed me and Shannon as we’ve gone through it and discussed it on air.

If you’d like to join us live, we are meeting tonight online at 9 p.m. CST/ 10 p.m. EST. We’ll be talking about this week’s topic – “Guarding the Door of Your Thought Closet.” We have a live chat room where you can talk with other ladies while you’re listening to the discussion and you can also call in and share your own thoughts. If you don’t have access to a computer, you can always call in to listen (347-237-4281). After tonight, we only have two more weeks until we are through with this study.  It’s gone by fast! Hope you can join us! The next study won’t start until the spring.

Fall Bible Study

Monday, September 7th, 2009

Get ready to join us as we start our Fall Bible Study with F.R.A.Z.L.E.D Military Wives Christian Network.

The new study will be “Me, Myself and Lies” by Jennifer Rothschild and we will be starting the seven-week study Thursday, September 24 at a new time, 9 p.m. CST/10 p.m. EST. We’re trying this new time out to see if it helps more ladies listen and interact with the study live, since we heard from many during the summer study who let us know they wanted to participate but couldn’t make the weekday morning time. You have three weeks to go ahead and get the book!

Here is a brief description of the study:

Me, Myself, and Lies: A Thought Closet Makeover is a video-driven Bible study for women to encourage them to clean out the junk in their thoughts and replace these hidden negative thoughts and failures with positive truths from God’s word. Author Jennifer Rothschild shares practically and helpfully from her own life and from Scripture to show how every woman can turn her words, and her life, around for good. (7 sessions)

Words are powerful. Especially the words women speak to themselves. All too often, what they say to themselves when they lie in bed at night or look in the mirror in the morning is not even close to the words God wants them to speak to their souls. According to Rothschild, what we think about often has a ripple effect on nearly every area of our lives, “This Bible study, based on Jennifer’s popular book: Self Talk, Soul Talk, teaches how to replace the lies you may have been telling yourself with the truth from God’s word.”

We plan on doing a Bible study specifically on marriage for next spring.

This week focus is on the nomadic life of Active Duty. But don’t worry, you can find several nuggets for the home bound Guard life too! Day 4’s lead in is titled My Heart, God’s Address. For Homework read John 14:1-27 and answer these questions:
What did Jesus say He would ask the Father? verse 16

Where does the spirit of truth live? verse 17

Where is Jesus today? verses 2,3, & 20

What does Jesus say His Father will make with us? verse 23

Hope for the Homefront Bible Study

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

I have included a link that will hopefully take you to an awesome devotional. This was what my hubbie and I read today and it so mirrors what our Bible study is going to be about about (**starting Sept 4th at Family Worship Center in Murfreesboro!**). Facing our battles. Take a moment and read it…preferably with your husband. We sometimes have to do our devotional over the phone (you know the military) but however, it doesn’t matter. What does matter is having that spiritual bond with your spouse. So, enjoy…
