Summer plans for Rutherford WoF

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

Hi ladies, if you’re in the Rutherford County, TN area, I wanted to let you know some of the fun activities we have planned this summer that we’d love for you to come and be part of!

The first is coming up on Monday night, June 14th at Gregory Mills in Smyrna.  The following is the website for the Town of Smyrna and you can locate pictures and an overview of the park area: http://www.townofsmyrna.org/ .  The splash pad closes at 6pm so I thought we could meet at 5pm (I know those of you that work may not be able to come that early) for the kiddos to play for a bit then move over to the pavillion (I have it reserved).  I will have a short devotional and if we bring along a sack supper we can eat and chat for a bit while the kids catch lightening bugs or play tag.  While there isn’t a playground at this park area, there is alot of grassy area for play, we can bring balls, frisbees and such.

The second event will be Monday, July 26th at 6pm and we will meet at my house in Murfreesboro, Tn, email me for address rutherfordcounty@wivesoffaith.org.  I have  a huge fenced in backyard for the kids to play, maybe  we could do a sprinkler for the kids.  We will bring food for a summer potluck, email me also for details of what you can bring. Please, let me know if you will be able to attend either of these events.

Also, we will begin a new Bible Study in August (3rd Monday at 6:30) using the study from Sara Horn’s God Strong book at our regular location, Family Worship Center(in the portables out back), 1503 Sulphur Springs Rd, Murfreesboro, TN 37130.

Come join us!

Sons of the Fallen

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

We received this information and wanted to pass it along to our readers. This film is a one night only event, so plan now to attend.

From the press release:

Conrad Ricketts, Executive Producer of “Extreme Makeover Home Edition” with the support of Schwans and Ford are partnering on a one night cinema event that takes audiences on an inspiring and compelling journey to a picturesque Rocky Mountain camp where 25 boys gather for a week of camp to honor the memories of their fathers who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In this touching one night in-theater tribute to our Military and their families on Tuesday, May 18 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern / 7:00 p.m. Central / 6:00 p.m. Mountain / 8:00 p.m. Pacific (tape delayed), come and experience an evening of music by Clint Black and a LIVE fireside discussions with the boys and the celebrity camp mentors, current “The Celebrity Apprentice” contestant and former professional wrestler Bill Goldberg, actor Ryan Merriman (“Final Destination 3”), and host of “Sons of the Fallen” and former Indy Car racer Joey “T” Truscelli. This event touches on the all too familiar losses that military families often suffer; this historic evening focuses on the resiliency and courage of the human spirit.

So Long Insecurity

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

I got this book this week and even though I have about six or seven books that I’ve started and have yet to finish, this one called my name today, so I began.

Girls, we need this. Oh, we so need this word from the Lord. And from Beth, who’s been there, done that, and bought the T-shirt.

If you want to follow along on the Living Proof Ministry blog, you can.

Don’t miss the simulcast. Click here to find all the locations. I’ll be there. Let me know if you will too. Last time it was Get Out of That Pit and I went alone to Fargo, but all my friends and my mom & sister all went locally to them . . . so it felt like we were all together, even when we were apart.

I hope this will minister to you. I truly do. For if we can work together to defeat the enemy, I believe we’ll have true security in Christ.

If you’re in Nashville…

Monday, July 20th, 2009

I wanted to let those of you who live in the Nashville area know about a few opportunities for you to connect this week.

This Thursday night I’m opening my home to any of you who would like to come. Operation Worship is a ministry that sends Bibles to the troops overseas with a special message inside each one thanking these service members for their service. A while back, I connected with them on Twitter and they sent me two packs of message cards to fill out. Once they all have messages on them, we’ll mail them back and the cards will be put into Bibles to be sent overseas.

Please come this Thursday night, starting at 6:30 p.m.,  and help me thank our troops for their service! You’ll be doing a great service for our troops as well as getting a chance to talk and connect with some other military wives! My house isn’t large but if you need to bring your kids you are more than welcome too. If the weather’s nice, we can sit outside and they can play or I can set up a movie for them to watch. And if you don’t like writing notes, then just come for the fellowship!

This Saturday, July 25, is a pre-deployment briefing for the 278th (National Guard) at Allen Arena. Wives of Faith was asked to have a table there. 800 to 2000 people are expected. We are going to simply pass out fliers and let the wives who come know about our group and our website and that we’re there to support and encourage them as they start this deployment.

I could use some help if any of you would like to come and be a part of this. You have an opportunity to pass on encouragement to someone else, so come!

Set up time is between 7 and 9:30 a.m. and the actual event is 12:30 to 3:30. You don’t necessarily have to be there for set up or the whole time of the event, but if you could commit to at least being there an hour, that would be a big blessing and help.

Lunch at the Cheesecake Factory! For any of you in or near the Green Hills area, let’s meet for lunch on Saturday! Even if you can’t help with the pre-deployment briefing, you still have to eat, so come and get connected with other Wives of Faith ladies. I talked with the manager this morning and though they normally don’t take reservations on Saturdays, she will make an exception for us so let me know by Wednesday if you’re planning on coming.

Here are the details: The Cheesecake Factory, 2133 Green Hills Village Dr, Nashville, TN 37215, 11 a.m., Saturday, July 25.

To RSVP or get directions for any of the above, email me at sara at wivesoffaith dot org.

Also, on a personal note, so sorry for not posting anything last week! Cliff is away for his two-week AT and I hate to say it but I have not done well at juggling things while he’s been gone this time! Summer is definitely always the hardest time for me. I would certainly appreciate your prayers.  We have plenty of room for other ladies to blog here on this site so if you are a military wife with something to say and enjoy writing and blogging, please let me know. I’d love to have you!

Register for Living Proof Live

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

Living_Proof_Live_2009_140x190Beth Moore will hold her Living Proof Live simulcast weekend conference August 28-29 and I’d like to encourage you to go if there’s a location near you!

If you’ve never been able to hear Beth Moore in person, this is the perfect (and affordable) opportunity for you to do so! While this weekend is for all women, Beth has a heart for the military wife and was actually born on an Army base in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the fourth child of a retired Army major. I’ve only been able to do one of her studies so far (Esther) but I know many ladies who have done quite a few, and you will be greatly blessed and encouraged if you go!

Here’s a great bio about Beth from the National Day of Prayer Taskforce website where she was this year’s honorary chairman.

Click here to find a church location near you. If you’re in the Nashville area, I’m going to be going to the simulcast at my church. Let me know if you’d like to go together!

New Message Board Up and Conference is Almost Here!

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Hey everyone,

well, the blog has been a bit quiet lately but that’s because so many of us are so busy getting ready for our first weekend conference that starts THIS FRIDAY! :)

We are so excited to welcome women coming from all over the country to our first conference. It will be a small group but we are looking forward to having some great fellowship and learning a lot from each other.

I also wanted to let you know that our message board is finally live! If you can’t make the conference, feel free to connect with other Wives of Faith ladies on our message board. It’s brand new, so we need bold talkers and conversation starters to speak up! (You know who you are! :) )

This week, we will also wrap up our 100 Days “This is the Day to Pray” prayer campaign. Thank you so much to all of you who participated in this endeavor. If you have a story of how the prayer campaign blessed you, please let us know about it.

We will have lots to share and pictures to show after the conference. (We still have a few spots open if you’d like to come!)
