Wives of Faith is on Pinterest!

Follow Me on PinterestWe’re excited to announce that Wives of Faith is now on Pinterest!

Pinterest is a fun and beautiful website that allows you to visually share recipes, quotes, do-it-yourself instructions and numerous other things with your friends. Though it has been around for a couple of years now, it has only really started taking on a life of its own in the last several months and many women are now learning about all of the fun benefits of being part of this community.

Because we want to be where our members are, doing what we can to support and encourage you in your walk with Christ and in your relationships with your husbands and families, we now have our own Pinterest account! Stephanie McFarland, a Wives of Faith member and extremely creative crafty person in her own right, has graciously agreed to be our Pinterest coordinator and has already added some beautiful and creative things to our boards!

A little more about Stephanie:

Stephanie McFarland is Pinterest Coordinator for Wives of Faith. She is the wife of ten years to Bryan, who is currently serving as a Physician’s Assistant in the Army National Guard. Bryan has served in the Somali Conflict as well as Operation Iraqi Freedom. Together they have two children, Brianna and Brantley. Stephanie is a college educated homemaker who has a passion for being the wife and mother God called her to be. She loves wearing aprons and crafting up anything and everything from trendy crochet hats and mittens to oreo rice krispy treats. One of her favorite scriptures is from Psalm 90:14, “Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.”

So if you’re on Pinterest, please follow us and we’ll follow back! (Also, be sure to check out the cute Red, White and Blue board Stephanie’s already added! Cute ideas!)

Our new Director of Volunteers

Hi Wives of Faith!

God continues to bring us amazing women to help serve in our ministry. I wanted to introduce you to Aracely Jimines-Hendricks.

Aracely has recently joined our leadership team as Director of Volunteers. We are excited about her stepping into this position and serving in this way. We have so many women who have come forward wanting to help that we’ve found we need someone to help coordinate who is doing what and where their skills and talents can best fit within the ministry and our current needs.

Read more about Aracely on her Staff Page and please welcome her to Wives of Faith! If you would like to get involved as a volunteer, there is a place for you! Fill out our Volunteer Spot application and get started!

Also, please be in prayer for our Leadership Team. Eleven of our ladies (and one man) will be meeting tomorrow night via Skype to discuss all things Wives of Faith. I’m so thankful for technology that allows us to do this! Please pray for wisdom and focus as we work together to look at the year ahead for Wives of Faith and the ways we are working together to minister to military wives.

Welcome new WoF leaders!

We want to welcome two new leaders to our Leadership Team – Leanne Miller and Heather McDevitt! Though they are each taking on new leadership responsibilities, neither are new to Wives of Faith. Both women have been serving in their local groups for the last couple of years and we are excited to welcome them to their national leadership responsibilities and know they will be a blessing for many more women in the days ahead!

Leanne is our new Local Groups Director. Her position is responsible for all current and new local group leaders. A Navy (Seabee) wife from Oklahoma, she strongly believes that God wrote her love story, bringing the two of them together in Italy while he was stationed there. Dating long distance strengthened their communication skills, preparing them for deployments. She wants to see military spouses discover that Jesus is their only hope and strength for the challenges of military life. Currently living in Ventura County California, she leads a Wives of Faith group of Navy wives and volunteers with her unit’s Family Readiness Group as the Sunshine Bee Coordinator. As the Local Group Director, Leanne wants to equip local leaders to be the hands and feet of Jesus to military wives in their areas and provide a relational “on the ground” outreach to Wives of Faith. To contact Leanne, email her at lmiller@wivesoffaith.org.

Heather is our new Prayer Ministry Director. She is responsible for leading our Prayer Ministry Team and receiving and passing on the prayer requests received from military wives. She has been an Army National Guard wife since April 2004 and she and her husband Ken have one son who will turn six this year. She lives with her family in Middle Tennessee and welcomed her husband back this past year from their second deployment. An active member of the Rutherford County Wives of Faith group, Heather is excited to be leading Wives of Faith’s prayer ministry. “I have a passion for praying for and with other women and a heart for the hurting,” says Heather. “Getting to pray for other women who face a lot of the same things that I do is an honor and a privilege. I have witnessed the Lord at work in my life and in the lives of others through prayer. I believe that encouraging military wives with their needs by praying for them is an honor. I look forward to all that the Lord will continue to accomplish through the prayers of His daughters of Wives of Faith!  Romans 12:12 is the verse that I think of the most when praying. It says, ‘Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.’” To contact Heather, email her at prayer@wivesoffaith.org.

Kori Yates joins Wives of Faith as MarriageCare Director

One of the biggest issues we hear about from military wives that they’re struggling with, after the topic of deployment, is marriage. The pain of infidelity, the frustration of financial issues between a husband and wife, and just a lack of trust or lack of communication can slowly, or sometimes instantly, tear a marriage apart.

But we believe God has a plan for military marriages and He wants us to fortify and strengthen our relationships in Him. As a ministry, we have made Military Marriages a priority in our vision and we want to do all we can to help point couples to Jesus.

We are excited to officially announce that military wife and author Kori Yates (Olive Drab Pom-Poms) has joined our leadership team as MarriageCare Director.

Kori has a passion for helping military wives in their marriages. She’s walked down the painful unwanted road of the ending of a first marriage (to a Marine) and can relate and offer help and encouragement to those struggling in similar situations. She is also a living testimony to God’s grace in new beginnings, now married to a soldier who shares her passion for helping other military couples keep their marriages strong with God’s help.

Kori will be blogging about marriage for Wives of Faith as well as helping our ministry design and plan programs, Bible studies and other ways to help all of us grow in our marriages as we grow in our faith and seek God’s will in all of it.

We’re looking forward to Kori’s contributions! Please give her a big welcome! Learn a little more about her on our Leadership Page. You can also contact her at kori@wivesoffaith.org.
