Hello Ladies!
If you are a veteran of this process, please provide any advice you may have. I am fortunate to work for the YMCA, an organization that supports the community and Christian values. With this I have been able to organize a Military Outreach program which members donated supplies to be package and shipped to our deployed Marines.
The response was so large that it exceeded the donated funds for shipping. If you have suggestions for a shipment like this (20-30 boxes) please let me know. We are having a “Packaging Party” tomorrow to sort and box at the Y facility and hope to ship soon after. I welcome any ideas you have to offer.
Thanks!

Trish, Are you looking for ideas to raise money for shipping?? Or just where to ship so many boxes?? I have ideas for both if you need them. For the fund raising. We have a similar need in our community for a ANG the city adopted to support. At our local "Family Days Festival" we are going to have a big piece of plywood and the kids will be able to put a handprint on it for a donation of a dollar or two. Their photo will be taken as they make their handprint and the photos will be compiles on a CD set to music and sent to the unit along with a scroll of paper that the kids and adults can leave a message to the unit on it. I can explain the flag in detail if needed but basically there are just red/wht/blue handprints. Two rows of handprints for each stripe and a varied wht/blue pattern for the stars. It is helpful to premark the board with color coded tiny pencil marks to keep it working the right way. Then the board will be displayed somewhere within our city. For who may need the care packages if you need names. I am going to be shamelessly self promoting here, but the group that I think keeps getting lost are the Navy Reserve guys, usually Seabees that are being pulled to do IA (Individual Augmentee) assignments. I'm sure any Navy Reserve Center could get you the names and address of some deployed IA members.

If you are looking for quick funding, think about contact a large church and see if they would be willing to donate funds to cover cost of shipping. Some churches keep funds set aside for just this cause.

COOKIES…have your group save Pringles cans, clean them out and let them dry. Then make smaller cookies, so they will fit into the cans. They keep the cookies fresh and not broken!
