This week we are talking about a very important subject that is dear to our hearts, especially as military wives – our husband’s safety and protection. As military wives we worry a lot about our husbands, especially when they are deployed. But we can give all our cares to Jesus and know that He is watching out for them! Praying for their safety is a huge part of what we can do instead of worrying.
“How many times have we heard stories about men who were on the battlefield and at the very moment when they were in the greatest danger, they experienced miraculous deliverance, only to learn later that someone back home was praying for them at that same moment? Our husbands are on the battlefield every day. There are dangers everywhere. Only God knows what traps the enemy has laid to bring accidents, diseases, evil, violence, and destruction into our lives. Few places are completely safe anymore, including your own home.”
“The wicked lie in wait for the righteous, intent on putting them to death; but the LORD will not leave them in the power of the wicked or let them be condemned when brought to trial.” -Psalm 37:32,33
“Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” -Proverbs 30:5
How true! It is a scary world we live in today. So many bad things happen, but we must remember that God is in control of all, and that prayer changes things!
“My prayer group and I regularly pray for our husbands to be safe in planes, cars, the workplace, or walking down the street. We don’t even have to think of all the specific dangers, we just ask the Lord to protect them from harm.”
“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.” – Psalm 91:11,1
“But accidents do happen, even to godly people, and when they do they are sudden and unexpected. That’s why prayer for your husband’s protection needs to be frequent and ongoing. You never know when it might be needed in the battlefield. and if something happens, you’ll have the comfort of knowing you’ve invited God’s presence and power into the midst of it.”
Prayer:
“Lord, I pray that you would protect (husband’s name) from any accidents, diseases, dangers, or evil influences. Keep him safe, especially in cars and planes. Hide him from violence and the plans of evil people. Wherever he walks, secure his steps. Keep him on Your path so that his feet don’t slip (Psalm 17:5). If his foot does slip, hold him up by Your mercy. Give him the wisdom and discretion that will help him walk safely and not fall into danger. Be his fortress, strength, shield, and stronghold. Make him to dwell in the shadow of your wing. Be his rock, salvation, and defense, so that he will not be moved or shaken. I pray that even though bad things may be happening all around him, they will not come near him. Save him from any plans of the enemy that seek to destroy his life. Preserve his going out and his coming in from this time forth and even forevermore.”
This week, I encourage you to read Psalm 91. It has always been my favorite psalm, but it is a good psalm for praying for those in the military.
