“Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, and the strength of salvation;
the fear of the Lord is His treasure.” Isaiah 33:6 (NKJV)As a military spouse or family member, we are unique in our own special way. Our lifestyles are somewhat different than what your average civilian may go through. Some of us have come to understand and accept the fact that in general people outside of the military do not understand what we go through especially during deployment.
The nature of most people will be to help you during this deployment. I have nothing against people outside of the military helping during a deployment. After having gone through two deployments as a spouse, I have now come to appreciate the kindness of others. Sometimes, God will allow us to go through multiple tests to make sure we “get it.”
In this process of testing, humbly asking God for wisdom and knowledge will tremendously help you when making a decision whether or not to accept the kindnesses of other people. Because what may seem right and helpful to them may not be what you need during a deployment. Asking the question is this in the best interest of me and my family is wisdom, and it is okay to say no to people.
Finally, I think what God wants us to get is the reliance upon Him more than on people. We are His treasures and His desire is to pour out wisdom and knowledge—we just have to ask for it.
Lord, I humbly come to You and ask for wisdom and knowledge
when others come to me to offer assistance. I thank You in advance for Your answers
and for the stability that You will provide during this season of my life. Amen.
