I love it when I feel God has spoken to me in the form of a tiny, way-too-easy-to-miss moment. Do you know that feeling, when a “random” occurrence lights up in your heart like it is the most important thing you could have experienced? I wonder how many of those moments I have missed. How many did I almost notice, but continued on with the constant “To Do” list of life? When did I recognize, but fail to remember, or fail to share with anyone else? I want to be aware! I want to remember these treasures and share them too!
Last week, I was presented with one of those little tangible moments that packs a big punch, and gives you a glimpse of Jesus.
I saw an elderly woman walking arm-in-arm with a young man who was blind. They were on the dirt shoulder of a busy road next to a loud, dusty construction site. I would not want to walk there with cars whizzing past, rocks underfoot, and tractors just yards away. They weren’t just walking either. Both smiled. Both walked at a good clip. Both walked with such confidence. It was evident that the man trusted his companion.
The Holy Spirit started whispering. In my daily walk, especially on those busy, bumpy, dirty days, am I walking with Christ joyfully, with trust and total confidence? I can’t always answer “yes” to these questions. I slow down, try to dodge some bumps, and my head becomes clouded with doubts. I stood convicted. Christ wants me to walk with Him in complete faith that He is in control and He loves me, no matter what the road conditions.
But now, this is what the LORD says -
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name: you are mine.
When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will note sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
For I am the LORD, your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…”
- Isaiah 41:1-3a

I have been there. Sometimes, it felt as if I would drown. But, I'm still here! We really can rest, knowing that He will always take care of us.:-) Renae

This post is a lovely reminder. I adore that passage of Isaiah 41. Years ago, I knew a Scripture chorus that echoed the same passage, but in KJV. The final portion is so poignant: "…neither shall the flames kindle upon thee, for I am the Lord Your God…" What a KIND God we have, that He allows no fire to KINDLE upon us, if we but trust Him!
