God’s Sense of Humor

Hello everyone! It has been awhile since I have written anything due to my husband coming home in November. But I had a story I wanted to share. Not even 2 days after my husband got home, I was blow drying my hair in our bathroom when out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw a brown thing run behind me. I told myself…”it’s nothing, you’re imagining things.” Well it wasn’t, I turned around and there was a tiny, brown mouse in my husband’s closet. I screamed and my husband ran into the bathroom ready to use his M-16 on someone. (note: I probably didn’t handle the screaming part the best way possible considering my husband just got home from his deployment.) My husband got a shoebox and captured the little guy and then took it out to the field and released it. I was terrified because I do not like mice, but after the mouse was out of the house, I couldn’t help but laugh. God’s timing can sometimes be somewhat humorous. If I had seen that mouse 3 days earlier, my whole world would have been turned upside down. I wouldn’t have known what to do. I would have probably left my house and had someone go back in and look for it. But my husband, my hero, took care of it in 3 minutes without any hesitation. It was a quick reminder from God of how he knows what I can handle and what I can’t. I just couldn’t help but smile that day, because I felt like God and I had a chuckle together.

I valiantly battled a mouse in my house for months and spend tons of money on exterminators when my husband was deployed. He was home less than 48 hours before he caught it! He'd certainly had enough practice down range – he's a pro! It's wonderful when they learn "practical" skills like that. :)

Ooh, I am so glad your hubby was home too! I wouldn't have known how to handle it either – except scream and call for help! :) A similar but different situation happened with us after Cliff got home. Ten days after he got back our son broke his arm in two places playing on the monkey bars at school. As the three of us were sitting in the hospital at 2 a.m. (he had to stay over for surgery), I looked at Cliff and said "I am so glad you are here!" My mom even told me later that she thought I'd handled everything pretty well while Cliff was gone, but that crisis might have sent me over the edge! LOL God does know what He's doing! :)

I love the way God challenges us … but only to the point we can handle it!

I am seeking true stories from people who have had an encounter with God that shows His wonderful sense of humour. Eventually I would like to publish the stories in book form, with all proceeds going to the Bible Society.

The aim of the Bible Society is to “put the Bible into people’s hands…This means that every effort is made to raise funds in order that they might produce Scripture in a language that is understood, in a format that is acceptable, at a price that is affordable.”

If you have a true story that you would freely like to share for inclusion in this book, and are willing to waive all rights to the story, I would love to hear from you.

You can email me at magdalena_babblejack @ yahoo.com (don’t forget to remove the spaces in the email address). Please include your full name, address, and phone number (with country and area code please). Should your story be included, your name and hometown/country will be included with it!

Of course, once I get a good selection together I can then contact you to let you know that I am proceeding with the publication of the book!

Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
