How WoF Groups Work
What Wives of Faith is NOT:
- We are not the local Family Readiness Group (FRG). A Wives of Faith chapter isn’t the liaison of any unit or command and we don’t monitor or mediate communication with official channels of any kind.
- We aren’t connected to just one military unit. Instead, we represent a wide mix of everyone who serves in the United States military. Even if there are several ladies belonging to the same unit, they should not expect to get their unit information from Wives of Faith.
- We do not go by rank of any kind in Wives of Faith. We are all equal as wives to our husbands, wanting to support them to the best of our abilities and sharing our experiences in order to encourage and help each other.
Structure
Our organization is based around a viral model, connecting, impacting and growing by helping each other. We want each local group to focus on the needs of those who join while staying connected to other WoF groups by sharing the same values and mission of what Wives of Faith is all about. Our national office works to help provide direction and assistance with the vision of what we’re doing, but we hope that each group will network and share its best with the rest of our groups so we can all learn together how to help each other.
We are more informal than formal when it comes to programming. Currently, we are working on options for groups to have in planning what to do each month such as Bible study helps or topic starters.
As a group leader, you can either choose to lead the group in a discussion or a devotional, or ask someone in your group to share something. You can decide to bring in a speaker or plan a fun activity. You can invite someone to help with the media, the communications, the activity planning or keeping up with member birthdays, anniversaries and other special events or milestones.
The location can also vary. You may want to meet at a church for most of your monthly meetings, but in the summer, change it up and visit in host homes. Or stick strictly with a church location or strictly in host homes.
