Promote Your Group
One of the first and most important things you will do is let your city know there is an opportunity for military wives to find support. Whether you’re in a bustling military community with an active military installation and thousands of military families, or in a community with an undetermined mix of reservists and active nowhere near their respective duty stations, there are military wives in your area looking for other people who understand the lives they live. There are many ways you can get the word out – the following ideas will get you started.
Local media
Make a list of all of the local newspapers, television news stations and radio stations in your area who run public service announcements and be sure to send a press release to each of these announcing the formation of your Wives of Faith group. We can assist you in getting the word out to the media. Just ask!
In addition to press releases, you will want to make sure that your meetings are listed in public event calendars wherever available, in the newspaper or the free local magazines. Be sure to follow the guidelines these calendars list for submitting.
Area churches
Be sure to ask local churches if you can send a short blurb about the chapter to run in their Sunday bulletins or weekly newsletters.
Fliers
Ask local businesses if they are willing to keep fliers next to their cash registers or on their bulletin boards promoting the group. The national office can assist you with designing these with the Wives of Faith logo.
Emails/Newsletters
This web site is available for every group to make use of in promoting its news and events and is a great way for ladies to learn more about the organization and if there is a group they can join in their area. We have the resources for you to use. Just let us know what you need.
As a group leader, you can post your group’s news on our blog and in our newsletter that goes out to all members. This is a good way for groups to keep in touch with one another.
We can also create an email address for you (yourgroup’sname@wivesoffaith.org) and add your group’s events and get-togethers to our Facebook group/page and website calendar.
