Military Wives Offer Prayer Challenge
Can you spend two minutes a day for 100 days to pray?

Nashville – Wives of Faith, a faith-based military wives support group for all types and branches of service, is launching a 100-day prayer campaign to ask men and women everywhere to commit to pray for the military, military families and our country.

“This is the Day to Pray: a 100-Day Prayer Challenge” launches Aug. 1 and will run through Nov. 8 which coincides with the last day of the organization’s first weekend conference for military wives.

Individuals and church groups are asked to sign up at the Wives of Faith website for a free daily email which will offer one specific prayer each day. The 100 days of prayers will include specific requests for military chaplains, troops serving overseas, military spouses and families as well as churches and church military ministries. Individuals can sign up at any time and the group hopes that more people will join as word spreads of the campaign.

Sara Horn, founder and executive director of Wives of Faith, was in Iraq in 2003 reporting stories of Christians in the military and she remembers one important conversation she had with a chaplain. “He told me that they could tell a difference when people were praying and when they weren’t,” she said. “Summer time is an easy time to get distracted and forget to pray for our military. We want to remind people that it’s still very much needed, particularly as our country moves into this transitional time of electing a new president and with the apparent shift of focus from Iraq to Afghanistan.”

Wives of Faith is a Nashville-based military wives support group for all types and branches of service that was started in December of 2006 as a way to connect military wives in Middle Tennessee. The group is expanding with requests to start chapters coming from all over the country. Wives of Faith will hold their first weekend conference November 7-8 in Franklin, TN.
