Know your ABC’s?
The Beth Moore simulcast conference was this weekend and it was so good! I had gone with the prayer that I might leave feeling renewed and inspired, and God definitely answered my prayer!
There were so many things that were touched on over the weekend but something little that Beth mentioned was really good which I have never really thought about but I think I’m going to try.
She spoke out of Psalm 37 for her message and on Friday night, she explained that this particular Psalm was written as a Hebrews acrostic – in other words, each verse starts with a letter of the Hebrew alphabet. She said David often did this because it was easier for the Hebrew people to remember.
She made this point to bring home the fact that all of us need to learn and study scripture more and memorize it. She has a list of 26 verses she knows by heart (yes, I’m sure she knows more than that) that all start with a letter of the alphabet.
I’m going to try doing this. It’s been years since I’ve worked on memorization but I think it’s important. So, I’ve been working on my A verse – “And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him, who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28.
I’ve only been working on it for two days and I’m happy to say I was able to type it just now completely from memory. But I’m going to try and stick to one verse a week so I can make sure it’s really seeping in.
So what’s your A verse? What’s your B verse? It could be fun to share your ABC verses with others. Comment below and let’s help each other create our scripture alphabets!

Oh, I LOVE this!! My favorite B verse would have to be this:
Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. ~Joshua 1:9
