Why We Exist

As you start your Wives of Faith group, you will find the feel and makeup of your group mixes and develops according to the personalities of the ladies who come. While we encourage you to be flexible as your group forms, there are a few important goals we would like for you to keep in mind as a Wives of Faith group.

We Exist to Support…

Your focus as a group leader is to help meet the needs of the ladies in your group and this is fostered by creating a positive, caring group environment where military wives know they can come and 1) not be judged, 2) not be criticized, and 3) always be heard. The life of a military wife is an emotional rollercoaster. There will be times to cheer, and there will be times to cry, but we must always work to keep people looking forward. A Wives of Faith group is a place where you always know you have friends.

We Exist to Encourage…

Through the get-togethers and activities you plan, your group will have opportunities to encourage ladies not just in their lives, but also in their faith. It’s important to realize that the women in your group may or may not have a strong belief in God. There will be many women who join simply because your group is the first they’ve run across where they can talk to other ladies who are military wives. They may have a church background that is different than what Wives of Faith is based on (evangelical Christianity) or they may have no religious background whatsoever. During your first few group meetings, you’ll want to establish that Christ is the foundation of what Wives of Faith is all about. Some ways you could do this: open or close with a short prayer, share a scripture, or have someone in the group share an inspirational or encouraging devotion.

We Exist to Do Life Together

This is the heart of Wives of Faith. The driving force behind all of what we do is the desire to build strong relationships with other women who are living the ever-changing life of a military wife. We weren’t meant to do this alone.

Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. – Ecclesiastes 4:12.
