Okay, this may be a stretch for our audience, but the Stetson folks took the time yesterday to post a comment about this contest they are doing with military families (and it got flagged as spam). I didn’t think it fit as a comment so I thought I’d just mention it in a post so you’re “aware” for all you Stetson lovers out there…the three stories chosen as winners will get hats named after them in their 2010 line.

Here’s the details from their website:

“Stetson Salutes”  invites military men and women, their friends and family members to submit a story about the special role a Stetson hat has played in their lives.

Whether your story involves a Stetson worn as a badge of honor, as it has been for U.S. troops since the Civil War-era, or as a badge of family tradition, friendship or other special memory, we want to hear about it.

For each submission made, we’ll contribute one dollar to the Armed Services YMCA, up to $5,000. In addition, the top three winners of our contest will be honored with a customized Stetson hat named after them and incorporated into the 2010 line.
